The movement of people is an inevitable and important part of the trajectory of human history. That being said, it’s also often a part of cycles of  colonial violence. This work is an ongoing body of images I’ve created over the past two years, exploring and documenting the empty places in neighborhoods and regions which are experiencing gentrification. I believe these spaces have invisible ghosts of displaced people still in them, in remnants of buildings, foundations and graffiti. My use of the camera as a tool for illuminating the invisible terrain of these largely dark environments with long exposures is reflective of that belief in the invisible.
